Blanton's Original Bourbon

Introduced in 1984 by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, it was the world’s first modern bourbon brand to be marketed as a single barrel offering. Lee created it as a tribute to Colonel Albert B. Blanton, a former president of the distillery who would handpick ‘honey barrels’ from a specific warehouse to share with dignitaries. This pioneering approach revolutionised the industry by creating the 'super premium' category of bourbon.

Whiskey Description

The sensory profile presents a creamy vanilla nose, which is complemented by notes of caramel and butterscotch, with a subtle undertone of baking spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate is sweet and smooth, with powerful dry vanilla notes, a harmonious presence of honey, strong caramel, corn, and hints of citrus. It is celebrated for its excellent balance and character, leading to a medium finish composed of returning corn and nutmeg flavours.

Food Pairing

The caramel notes in the spirit complement the sugary glaze on a dessert, making caramelized pecans a wonderful match.  For a savoury pairing, the robust and oaky notes work beautifully with barbecue dishes like smoked brisket or BBQ ribs.
