Mission Hill Oculus is the flagship Bordeaux style red wine from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1981 by proprietor Anthony von Mandl, Mission Hill Family Estate is a pioneer of upscale winemaking in the region, known for its iconic bell tower and its 'vineyard first' philosophy. The Oculus, named after the circular window in the estate's underground barrel cellar, represents the pinnacle of the winery's production, crafted from grapes specifically nurtured from the most prestigious vineyard blocks.

Wine Description

This vintage presents a deep ruby red colour and a bold, structured sensory profile. The nose offers seductive aromas of fleshy ripe dark fruit, violets, and black cherry, accented by complex notes of cedar smoke, cocoa, and warm spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and dry with a creamy mouthfeel, displaying layered flavours of plum, fruitcake, and chocolate. While the tannins are well-integrated and smooth, they provide enough grip to suggest a long future, leading to a lengthy finish of rich dark plum and spice.
